Amethyst Ring #38
Piece 38 — Amethyst Ring with 24K Gold Leaf
This amethyst ring is a piece that began as an experiment. Not a ring — an exploration. I was testing ways of working with gold leaf, seeing what it could do in different contexts, different applications. I was not focused on making something. I was simply making.
And then I looked up and there it was.
This is how art actually works — not in the focused, deliberate moments of intention, but in the ones where your hands are moving and your mind is somewhere else and suddenly the thing in front of you is finished and extraordinary and completely itself. I love the piece most for exactly that reason. It arrived as a surprise. The best ones always do.
The amethyst cluster is small by comparison to some of the stones I work with — but small is entirely the wrong word for what it does in this setting. Set into a hand-sculpted body finished with 24 carat gold leaf, its deep violet crystal points rising from the dark sculptural form, it becomes a ring that takes over a hand completely. Statement is too small a word for it. It is a declaration worn on a finger.
The gold leaf catches the light differently at every angle — sometimes barely visible, sometimes blazing — because it was applied by hand, in layers, in the particular way that only an exploratory process produces. You cannot plan that quality of surface. You can only arrive at it.
Amethyst works with the crown and third eye chakras — intuition, clarity, spiritual protection. Worn on the hand, it travels with you into every gesture, every conversation, every room you enter.
Materials: Raw amethyst, 24K gold leaf, hand-sculpted proprietary medium Weight: 37.42 g / 1.32 oz Stone: 3 cm / 1.18 in high, 5.5 cm / 2.17 in long Ring size: approximately European 53 (US size 6.5). Because each ring is made entirely by hand and is not a perfect circle, the size is approximate rather than exact.
One of a kind. Made once. Yours alone.
