PIECE #55 Amethyst Inverse Triangle Amulet
The piece I had been dreaming about.
There is a piece in my collection, Piece 10, one of the first I ever made, that I have never quite been able to let go of. Not because I still have it. I don't. It found its person early, and when I see her wearing it, I still get goosebumps. That piece set something in motion in me. A determination to find the stone that would let me go there again.
I found it, as I find most things, completely by accident.
We were on a family holiday in Valais, southern Switzerland, near Sion, on our way to the Lac Souterrain, the underground lake that sits deep inside the mountain. And there, near the entrance, was a small dealer. I walked in, eyes already searching, and there it was.
An amethyst with an unusual shape, an inverse triangle, dense and architectural, with a small cluster of druzy crystals growing at its surface like a tiny world forming on top of another world. The kind of detail that stops you.
I bought it immediately. We travelled on to the Matterhorn after that, all of that light, that altitude, those days that felt too good to be real. And when I came home, the stone sat in my studio. And in September, I finally had the time to work with it.
I leafed it in 22 karat gold. Not because gold is expected, but because this particular purple, dense, saturated, the kind that sits at the very furthest edge of violet before it becomes something else, needed that warmth against it. The gold brings it forward. Makes it glow.
The setting is hand-sculpted. The chain is vintage American bronze, pre-2000s, from an era when these chains were still made with real weight and real intention. Untreated. Exactly as they came.
This piece carries the whole of that summer in it. The underground lake. The mountains. The particular quality of Swiss Alpine light in late August. All of it compressed into something you can wear against your chest.
The person I made this for is someone who carries their strength visibly. Someone with depth of knowledge, creative in the way that matters most: in how they think, in how they see, in how they move through the world. They don't need an occasion to wear this. They are the occasion.
Amethyst works with the crown and third eye chakras, intuition, inner knowing, the calm authority of someone who trusts what they understand. In 22 karat gold, that energy becomes warm, solar, generous. A piece for someone already fully themselves.
