There is a stone hunter I know in Zurich — a Swiss man with a shop around the corner from where I work. He travels the world finding extraordinary things and brings them back. I trust his eye completely. This piece came from him. He found it in Romania, in the Rhodope mountain region, and I understood immediately why he kept it.

Needle quartz — also called sceptre quartz or, in collector circles, simply needles — is quartz that grows in long, impossibly fine crystal formations, radiating outward like frozen light. This specimen is covered in them, each one translucent, each one catching light differently, the whole cluster shimmering somewhere between silver and diamond depending on the angle. It is one of the most delicate things I have ever set into a piece. The chalcopyrite running through it brings dark metallic notes — that particular bronze-gold-silver mineral that catches light like crushed metal.

I made a deliberate decision with the setting: the back is partially open. Because from behind, the stone reveals a completely different world — pyrite, quartz, and other minerals visible in their raw, unworked state. The person wearing this carries a secret landscape against their skin that no one else can see. Only they know what's back there.

It sits on a steel curb chain and closure — cool, strong, the right counterpoint to something this ethereal.

Needle quartz works with the crown chakra — clarity, spiritual attunement, and the particular quality of attention that allows you to see what others miss. Chalcopyrite amplifies that energy, adding copper's warmth and conductivity to the frequency.
